Introducing The Good Food Bag Program
The West End Resource Centre is proud to facilitate The Good Food Bag Program. This initiative is meticulously designed to offer residents of Daniel McIntyre and Saint Matthews an accessible pathway to nutritious, fresh vegetables and produce.
We are steadfast in our conviction that all residents of Winnipeg should have consistent access to wholesome food. No individual should face the pangs of hunger or grapple with dietary inadequacy due to financial constraints. Rising food prices have escalated food insecurity into a cardinal concern. It is a battle we are committed to undertaking collectively, ensuring the basic human right to food is accessible for everyone.
The Good Food Bag Program: A Snapshot of Our Modus Operandi
Every Monday (with the exception of public holidays which shift our operations to Tuesday), under the adept guidance of the Greening Supervisor and a dedicated team, we procure an assortment of fresh vegetables and produce, beginning at 1 pm. We ensure all items are purchased, packaged, and ready for collection by 4 pm. Registered participants are then invited to collect their food bags from the West End Resource Centre between 4-6 pm.
Here's what you can expect from our program:
Each bag is affordably priced at $15.
The inherent value of each bag ranges from $30 to $50, contingent on the market prices and what our Greening Supervisor can acquire.
We accept payments in cash, debit, and credit card.
To ensure your reservation for the following Monday's bag, make your payment at least one week in advance.
Eligibility for the program requires residency within the Daniel McIntyre/Saint Matthews community.
Our program is inclusive and caters to community members of all family sizes.
Please be aware that pre-registration is a mandatory prerequisite to participate in the program. This policy enables us to maintain the quality of our service and ensure that food bags are available for all pre-registered participants.
